My name is David Ashton, I have lived in our beautiful suburb of Windradyne for a bit over 20 years now. I'm lucky, I don't live on one of the roads which is directly used by the construction traffic for the new subdivision, but I get some of the noise, I get the traffic when I'm driving to and from home, and I see the destruction of our roads that the trucks are causing. When I see that the government is not using the Orange Road (Mitchell Highway) for this traffic, because it is in the "too hard" basket for them and it's easier to inconvenience us Windradyne residents, I get very angry.
So I decided to fight this as much as I can. I've written to everyone concerned, starting with Devcon (the contractors) through Bathurst Regional Council, our local state member Paul Toole, Transport for NSW, the Roads Minister and finally the Premier of NSW. I've not yet got very far, I have been fobbed off by TfNSW and the previous and current roads ministers, and have not yet heard back from the Premier. Paul Toole has been great at following up and has said he will raise the issue in state parliament, and I'm waiting to hear from him. Meantime, I know that every other Windradyne resident I've spoken to feels the same as I do, So, with this website, I'm hoping to bring some people power to bear. I'M NOT GIVING UP ON THIS!!
This website is to inform residents what is going on, and to give them the contacts to submit their own complaints to the government. The "What's been done" section is to inform you of the current state of play, and the "What can you do?" section gives you the information to send messages to various levels of government to make your feelings known. These tabs are found on the home page, or use the links above. I'd love to know if you have written to Government about this.
You can contact me via the form below, and if you wish I can email you updates on this matter.
